Decorating with Copper Accents for Fall
This isn’t just any fall decor…we’re talking about vintage copper. Yes, the timeless metal that exudes warmth and sophistication and an all-around cozy aesthetic that’s so perfect for this new season.
Join me today as I share simple and budget-friendly ways of decorating with this beloved metal for fall!
Thrifting Tips for Finding Vintage Copper
First, let me share my tips for sourcing, finding, and curating old copper.
I’ll start by saying that vintage copper has become extremely popular in recent years. So, with that, comes increasing prices and the inability to find copper on a regular basis. But, no fear! There is still much to be had and, truly, I’ve had the most luck finding vintage copper for an affordable price at thrift stores.
- check thrift stores frequently for copper merchandise
- look for makers markings or stamps
- know what you are and are not willing to pay for thrifted copper
- check every aisle because many times copper pieces can be found in random places
- look for unique or rare copper items that aren’t often seen
Other places to look for vintage copper decor include:
- Etsy
- eBay
- Mercari
- estate sales
- garage sales
- antique shops

Simple Fall Decor Ideas Using Vintage Copper
Truth be told, out of any season, decorating for fall is my absolute favorite. This time of the year is just so cozy, full of warmth and everything that makes one feel at ease.
What’s better than wearing your favorite sweater while sitting outside in the chilly fall air, wrapped in a blanket, and sipping a warm beverage?! It’s the best feeling in the world, I conquer!
I’m super excited to be sharing all about vintage copper today…one of my all around favorite decorating themes.
Let’s get into it!
Fall Decorating: Using Vintage Decor to Add Warmth and Character
Decorating a home for fall is a cozy and creative process yet can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be wondering things like:
- “What decor do I use?”
- “Can I mix new with old?”
- “How do I make it all feel cohesive?” or
- “What types of items will add warmth to my home?”
When decorating for a new season, there are always many ideals to consider and decorating choices to make. But, one of the easiest and most tried and true methods that I come back to year after year is styling my home with copper.
Here are five of my favorite ways to incorporate vintage copper for fall!
1. Integrate Copper Into Existing Decor.
The easiest and most simple way to style copper for fall is to incorporate it into any existing decor.
As an example, I have many pieces of vintage kitchen decor that always live up above my kitchen cabinets. To add some warmth and make this well-used space feel more like fall, I simply added few pieces of copper, which I interspersed here and there.
All in, this process took me 20 minutes and it truly changes the whole look of my kitchen!
2. Copper and Fall Floral Arrangements.
From experience, I can fully say that copper pots, kettles, or bowls make for the prettiest fall floral arrangements!
Some of my go-to items to use for fall floral arrangements include:
- dried eucalyptus in maroon or gold
- faux leaf stems
- velvet or plaid ribbon
- faux wheat
Lastly, when it comes to displaying your cozy fall arrangements, anything goes.
Some areas in my home where I like to arrange copper floral arrangements include:
- as a table centerpiece
- place one on each end of a shelf
- on a bathroom counter
- in a basket vignette
3. Easy DIY Ideas for Creating Fall Decor with Vintage Copper Items.
Vintage copper is timeless, making it the ultimate decor item to use for any type of display or vignette, whether fall or not!
For a simple yet elegant entryway display, all I did was place two smaller copper decor items and then added in fall-themed accessories.
I pulled from things I already had on hand, making this entry shelf decor completely free!
Some fall decor accessories that not only can be found thrifted but also mesh beautifully with copper include:
- vintage thread spools
- vintage books
- faux fall stems
- vintage fall-themed art
- wood elements like cheese boxes or vintage cigar boxes
- faux pumpkins
4. Vintage Copper Kitchen Decor- Styling Vintage Copper Cookware in a Fall-Themed Kitchen.
There’s nothing better than vintage copper in a kitchen.
I first saw this decorating element used in the movie ‘Julie and Julia’ and absolutely loved it. Fast forward years later, after many years of thrifting, and I now have something similar to the movie!
Something new that I recently tried in my kitchen was to use a thrifted peg rack and hang some of my smaller-scale copper pieces from it. I pulled some creamers and pitchers down to create a fall peg rack display and just adore how it looks!
Copper decor that can be used on a peg rack includes:
5. Creative Fall Ideas for Copper Decor- Using Copper in Unexpected Ways.
Although I do love to style copper for fall in those more well-known spaces, I also tend to stray away from the norm and decorate with copper:
- in bathrooms
- on a mantel
- in a hutch
- on a credenza or wall shelf
