You won’t believe what’s in a mixed bag of goodies! The thrift store scores I found this month are SO good.

I think you know what I mean when I say that many of us share the universal joy of thrifting—the anticipation, the unexpected finds, and the moment you spot something super special. It’s like…for that split second, nothing else matters because you just found the BEST thing, right?! I felt that same way with a few of the finds I’ve recently come across at thrift stores and antique shops. Today, I’m sharing a mixed bag of goodies with thrift store scores I found this month! The found items cover both immediate needs, like Christmas decor, and timeless vintage pieces that can be used all year round.

Versatile and Vintage Thrift Finds to Use for Christmas and Beyond!

This post will prove that a good thrifting trip yields variable vintage finds that seamlessly provide maximum value, blending holiday charm with everyday home decor.

When thrifting, especially this time of the year, not every trip is purely seasonal. Some of the best hauls are often a mixed bag of items for different needs such as seasonal decor, household staples, and collectibles.

Thrifted Goodies Volume 42- A Mixed Bag of Goodies: Thrift Store Scores I Found This Month

Hello, guys!

Welcome, or welcome back, to the blog and to the next installment in the ‘Thrifted Goodies’ series! If you are new around here, welcome!

This is a monthly series where my friend MaryJo from the blog Master’pieces’ of my Life and I share thrift hauls, thrifting tips, and general thrift shopping advice.

Why Thrift Shop? The Benefits of Shopping Secondhand

One way or another, you may have just found your way to this community, and for that I am so grateful.

So, if you are new here, you might have questions such as “why shop at thrift stores over retail?” You are totally entitled to those queries and I’m glad you asked! This section justifies the choice to shop secondhand and reinforces why I love it SO much.

Sustainable and Environmental Impact

Buying secondhand is the ultimate form of recycling because it reduces the demand for new manufacturing. These old pieces each have a story and you’re giving them a second life…there’s no better thing!

Budget-Friendly Decorating

I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again…there is such significant cost-savings when choosing to shop at thrift stores! Through secondhand shopping, you can totally achieve a high-end look without a high price tag. Shopping in this way also allows you to experiment with trends or seasonal items risk-free!

Character and Uniqueness

Thrifted items instantly add character, timeless charm, and a curated feel that mass-produced items cannot. Your home decor becomes personal and truly one-of-a-kind.

Recent Thrift Haul + How I’ve Styled My Thrifted Finds

Okay! Well, we’ve made it to last thrift haul of the year…isn’t that crazy?!

I’ve found some pretty epic vintage home decor items over the past month and I can’t wait to share them with you. This haul, as stated, is a mixed bag…some things can be used now for just the holidays while others can be used for winter decorating and beyond.

Let’s get into it!

Antique Mirror

I’ve been on the hunt for a smaller antique mirror to hang on the wall to the right of my hutch. Well, while doing some Christmas antique shopping a few weeks ago, at one of my favorite vintage shops, I spotted this stunning mirror! I couldn’t believe it because it’s literally the perfect size.

Gesso work mirrors such as these usually fetch a hefty price, especially at vintage shops. But, this one happened to be just $38!! I’m SO happy.

Thrifting Tip: Don’t dismiss an old mirror just because it has minor damage! Old mirrors with gesso work, like this one, usually have bits of the gesso missing. But, I think that adds to the overall charm and character of it. Gesso can be repaired with DIY supplies but I hung mine as is.

Vintage Oval Doily

Next up is a beautiful vintage linen! I haven’t actually sourced an old linen in quite awhile so this was a super fun find.

Found at the same shop as the mirror for $6.00, I loved the oval shape of this delicate doily. Though I will use it year round, I thought that snow-flaked shaped crochet work would look so pretty for winter.

I am using the doily on the end table next to the couch in the living room. It’s the perfect size for this vintage table (which needs to be re-painted…a project for the spring), and for now looks pretty while covering up the chipping paint!

Brown Transferware Tureen

You guys…can you believe it!? I found this AMAZING transferware tureen at my local thrift store for just $4.00!!

It was just casually sitting on an upper shelf, waiting for me to come along and swoop it up. It’s rare to even come across brown transfer at an antique shop let alone a thrift store…I have never even seen a brown transferware tureen at a thrift store before. So, to score this was epic!

Obviously, I love to use my collection of brown transferware for fall decorating. But, I have been keeping it out for Christmas as well and really love how it looks with holiday greenery! For the season, I placed the tureen on a shelf in my office, tied on a velvet ribbon, and then set a vintage Santa next to it. Voila! Instant Christmas vibes.

Crocheted Table Runner

Well, what do we have here? Another linen?!

Would you believe me if I told you that I scored this amazing table runner for just .99 cents?! Well, I did 🙂 My local thrift store hasn’t had much in the linen department lately so I was super excited to come across this beauty on my last thrifting trip.

For Christmas, I am using it on the dining table along with a vase of cedar stems. I love the simplicity of it and will be easily transitioned to winter decor after the holidays are over!

Thrifting Tip: When sourcing items from the thrift store, note if they can be used for multiple seasons. I do this often and has stretched my dollar much further!

Shiny Brite Teardrop Ornament

And, finally, last but not least is yet another vintage Shiny Brite ornament to add to my growing collection!

I found this pretty teardrop shape one at one of my favorite antique malls for just $5.00 but it was 20% off…wahoo! I’ve added this ornament to my Christmas tree so it can be properly displayed alongside it’s Shiny Brite siblings.

Thrifting Tip: Don’t rule out antique stores for sourcing home decor! Yes, some of them can be expensive, but 9 times out of 10, I can source beautiful pieces of home decor and pieces for my vintage collections, for just a few dollars!

Go Forth and Thrift! Finding Your Own Treasures

Before we close, I wanted to briefly reflect on the monetary value saved and the character value gained by opting for secondhand wares.

For all of the five items shared, I spent a tad over $50. At first, that seemed high to me, because I’m used to spending like $15-20 per haul. But, then when I factor in the antique mirror, that’s the majority of the cost and you cannot find that quality of a mirror, in any retail store, for under $100. So, that’s that.

What I’m trying to say is that thrifting enables one to source high-quality items for a very low price. So, the next time you are in need of something for your house, whether it be a lamp, a blanket, dishes, or something else, try thrifting it! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

Closing Tidbits on A Mixed Bag of Goodies: Thrift Store Scores I Found This Month

I hope you can sense the joy, and efficiency, of finding a mixed bag of thrifted goodies! This method of shopping is such a smart way to decorate not only for the holidays, but year-round.

Even during holiday-focused thrifting trips, be sure to keep your eyes open for non-seasonal finds that you can use much of the year…it all makes the thrifting excursion worth it!

Be encouraged to thrift your way to a special and curated home, one find at a time.
