FAQ’s for Spring Decor

When can you start decorating for Spring?

There aren’t any rules when it comes to decorating your home for the seasons.

You do what feels right to you but I like to start taking down the winter decor and transitioning to early Spring at the beginning of March. Depending on where you live, like if you are located in a warmer climate, you could do it sooner, such as the end of February.

How do you decorate for Spring?

For me personally, I love to lighten everything up. With winter drawing to a close, it’s time to put away the dark greens and navy blues and bring out all the pastel colors!

Some simple ideas can include using fresh or faux flowers, incorporate Spring colors such as light pink, robin’s egg blue, and jadeite green, and switch out heavy fabrics for lighter ones.

How to decorate in March and April?

Focus on light colors, greenery, and floral patterns.

Swap out ‘heavy’ feeling items such as corduroy or fleece for linen or cotton fabrics. To bring in some airy texture, try natural elements such as wicker or light colored wood. Use floral prints on things such as table runners, pillow covers, placemats, napkins, or rugs.

Shopping Secondhand for Sustainable Spring Decor on a Budget

As you know, I love to thrift! Not only do I thrift for decor but I also thrift for everything else such as clothing, household goods, and gifts.

I truly believe that there is no need to buy anything brand new because there is so much stuff that has already been produced!

So, for seasonal decor specifically, my best piece of advice is to go thrifting or shop secondhand for it! Acquiring Spring decor in this way ensures that your home will feel timeless and elegant, filled with the most beautiful pieces that can be used year after year.

Check your local thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, and antique shops for one-of-a-kind decor that is budget friendly. You’ll never know what you might find!

Timeless Vintage Spring Decor That I Use Every Season

My love for vintage decor runs deep. And, as such, I love to use my beloved vintage pieces all year round by simply tweaking them to fit the season.

So, for example, I can use ironstone plates or platters and make them look Spring by placing a floral hanky on top or styling a faux floral arrangement alongside them.

Decorating in this manner is budget-friendly and sustainable because I’m not going out and purchasing new seasonal decor each year!

Here is a list of some favorite vintage decor that I use every Spring season:

  • floral ironstone plates
  • ironstone creamers
  • milk glass
  • ironstone platters
  • blue and white transferware
  • jadeite
  • vintage pitchers
  • thrifted art
