Journey Jots #29

Hello, guys! Hope you are well.

Spring is in full bloom here in the North and it’s just GLORIOUS! The whole Earth comes to life with the flowering trees, Daffodils, birds, and ducks. And! My favorite! The hummingbirds have returned!! I make homemade nectar for them and, the other night, saw one come to the feeder and eat for close to a minute. I LOVE my little hummer friends!

Although, with that, comes my awful Spring allergies. It happens every year right around this time and lasts about a month. Do you get them, too? Have you found anything that helps besides taking medicine? I’d love to know!

Life Lately

It was a pretty quiet week around here for once! I went to a friend’s bridal shower last weekend with a whole bunch of close family friends and it was SO fun.

I managed to get most of my pots planted on the patio and, I have to say, it’s the best it’s ever looked out there. We were going for a jungle feel by just loading it with ferns and vines. Through careful planning, we achieved that look!

Also, this is the first time for these type of Begonia’s on the patio. We found these at an Amish greenhouse on our vacation a few weeks ago and fell in love with them. They remind me of a rose the way that they are curled.

So far, I’m super happy with how they are doing…blooming like crazy!

In the evenings, especially this time of year when there are no mosquitoes yet, I love to sit out on the patio. I’ve been slowly making my way through my favorite magazine. It’s just so peaceful and helps to calm my busy brain after a long day.

And, as always, I’ll leave you with a photo of miss Molly. She LOVES to read. By that I mean she pulls out all of her books from the bin onto the floor, flips through one or two pages, and then moves on to the next one 🙂

She turns ONE in a few weeks and I just can’t believe where the time has gone!

  • Hi Rachel! Sorry to hear you have allergies, they are such a pain! I had terrible allergies in KY but when we moved to FL no issues…until a couple of weeks ago that is. I’m hoping it was a cold instead of allergies but it turned into a sinus infection. I tried using saline nasal spray and Beekeepers Natural Immune Support because I didn’t want to take meds but ended up on an antibiotic! I hope you’re feeling better by now!!

      Hello!
Oh man!! That stinks. So sorry!
I am in the thick of it right now as all of the tree pollen leaves a fine yellow dust over EVERYTHING. I did make an essential oil roller blend that seems to be helping but my eyes are SO itchy.
Anyways, hope you feel better quick!

  • Allergies are no fun, Rachel! I tried to avoid taking meds too but sometimes they just get so instense I wind up taking Claritin D. Love seeing Molly’s update each week. She’s adorable and I’m excited about all your flowers and plants too. It feels like the perfect way to kick off the season! Off to dive into your links. Big hugs, CoCo

      Thank you!!
Yes…it’s the tree pollen that gets me. The trees are now basically all greened out so I think I’m on the other side, thankfully!
