How to Decorate with Thrifted Home Decor
Thrift stores are big treasure chests…there is something amazing in there just waiting for you to find it! Thrifting is one of my favorite hobbies because you just never know what treasures are going to be found.
I usually have a few things that I’m always on the hunt for and it’s exciting when I find those items at the thrift store. It’s also the thrill of being surprised and just roaming the aisles.
But, how does one style these found items, you may ask? Come on, I’ll show you!

Styling Vintage Thrift Store Finds
Decorating your spaces with vintage thrifted decor makes your home feel collected and is uniquely special because no one else has those pieces. Styling vintage thrift store finds is what keeps me going!
Here are some simple ways to decorate with them throughout your home.
Thrift Store Find #1: Vintage Green Vase
This vase is stunning. It’s a little more modern than what I am typically drawn to but when I saw it on the shelf I knew I had to have it. I can tell this vase is old because there is some cool veining on the back of it.
I styled it on the mantel because the green adds color to that corner and really pops with the black shiplap. Simple white flowers add texture but don’t take away from the vase itself because I wanted that to be the focal point.
Thrift Store Find #2: Caned Back Chair
I wanted to put this one on the list because it just goes to show that you can find beautiful, vintage furniture through shopping second hand. Though not technically a thrift store find but rather a Marketplace find, it was a steal at only $20.
Cane furniture is quite popular in homes right now and I recently wrote a whole blog post about that which you can read here.
Thrift Store Find #3: Vintage Copper Lantern
Finding this lantern was so exciting! This was one of those days where I wasn’t really finding much in the thrift store and was just about to leave.
At the last minute I noticed some boxes that had random merchandise in them. This lantern was laying in one of those boxes all by itself!
It didn’t have a price on it and I was expecting to pay more than I normally would but I didn’t care because it was mine now. To my surprise the lady at the register gave it to me for $3.99! It’s worth way more than that but I’m thankful for that price.
Thrift Store Find #4: Wooden Pig Cutting Board
This beautiful wooden cutting board was definitely thrifty since it was free! It was actually gifted to me from my mother in law. My father in law’s mother used it in his childhood home.
My father in law can remember his mom using it in the kitchen when he was a little boy. I asked him how old this cutting board was and told me it’s at least 70 years old!
I am so thankful to have been gifted this special piece and just love it in my kitchen. The wood adds so much warmth to the white wall and the old cutting marks on it gives my kitchen such character and patina.
Thrift Store Find #5: Vintage Copper Kettle
The last vintage piece I wanted to share with you is this amazing copper kettle. About a year ago, I found a copper teapot and have been hooked on collecting copper ever since.
This kettle has everything right! The long handle is so pretty, the hook on the back is extremely unique, and the color on it is simply stunning.
I love having this kettle displayed in my kitchen, along with all my other antique and vintage kitchen finds. It lends a feeling of being in an old general store, which to me is cozy and nostalgic.

I’m curious if you have any decor tips for tarnished silver serving pieces?
Thanks so much
Hi!
I don’t…I don’t collect silver and I can’t speak to how to clean it. BUT. I know that the HGTV website, Taste of Home website, or Good Housekeeping website all offer tips on how to clean it. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Rachel lived that green vase! Also love picking up linens for bed, bath and kitchen. I do hand embroidery. So many uses with these linens. Keep them coming. Teresa 🧵
Hi, Teresa!
Thanks so much…I found that vase years ago and still love it just as much now as I do then!
Linens are so wonderful, aren’t they?! So glad you enjoy them, as well.
