Easter Decorating with Thrifted Finds

Easter decorating with found items is SO good. I don’t think there’s anything cuter than the old, kitschy Easter decor that can be found at thrift stores, don’t you think?!

However, to find the good stuff takes a little digging, some patience, and a few key tips. Let’s get into those below!

Thrifting for Easter Decor: 6 Vintage Finds for Cheery Spring Decorating

Why Thrift for Easter Decor?

Why thrift for home decor? Because, well, why not?!

There are so many benefits to thrifting for decor, whether it is Easter or something else. Shopping secondhand for seasonal decor is not only sustainable and affordable but it also gives you the opportunity to style a home that is unique to you through sourcing one-of-a-kind items!

Thrifting is truly a joy because you never know what you’ll find on any given day. It’s the thrill of the hunt that keeps me going back!

Easter Decorating: Setting the Stage for Spring with Thrifted Wares

Vintage finds from the thrift store add immense character to Spring decorating. Nothing else can compare to the charm that found wares bring to a home styled for Spring!

If you are looking to create a welcoming and bright atmosphere for the season on a budget, I highly suggest thrifting. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain!

Where to Find Vintage Easter Decor

There are a multitude of options when it comes to sourcing vintage Easter decor.

My favorite place to find vintage decor is, of course, from thrift stores. However, there are a handful of other places to scour when looking for Easter specific decor.

They include:

  • antique shops (vintage Easter will be a tad more expensive here but will yield a lovely selection of rarer finds)
  • flea markets
  • estate sales (the best option for finding large collections of Easter decor)
  • online sources such as e-Bay, Etsy, or FB Marketplace

Thrifting for Easter Decor: 6 Vintage Finds for Cheery Spring Decorating

Okay! Now, armed with that knowledge, let’s get into my thrift haul for Easter!

Before we jump in, I want to preface it by saying that though most of this haul isn’t the quintessential bunnies, eggs, and the like, the finds I’m sharing are timeless, being able to be used throughout the entire Spring season, not just Easter.

Thrifted Find #1: Vintage Milk Glass Vase

We’re starting it all off with one of my very favorite decor pieces…vintage milk glass! If you know me, you know how much I adore this old, white glass.

On this particular thrifting trip, I was just about done with my round when I spotted a milk glass vase sitting on top of the glass case at the front. I knew it was a real one…I could see the ‘ring of fire’ from across the store!

The shape of this vase is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, especially when it comes to milk glass. The beautiful, smooth curves are stunning! For just $2.00, it immediately went into my basket.

For Spring and Easter, I have the pretty vase styled in my curio cabinet alongside many pieces of blue and white vintage decor finds. I had been looking for something tall to fill in this empty space and this vase fits just perfectly!

Thrifted Find #2: Jadeite Bowls

Another favorite decor find, that I do not find often, is vintage jadeite. Jadeite is especially stunning to use for Spring decorating. The beautiful pastel green hue of this old glass cannot be compared to anything else!

It’s been a long time since I’ve come across authentic vintage jadeite for a fair price. It’s so popular these days! However, on a recent antique shopping outing, you wouldn’t believe it…I found not one but two swirled-edge bowls for only $1.00 a piece!! Isn’t that insane?!

Thrifting Tip: When looking for authentic vintage, always check to see if there is a stamp or maker’s mark present on the piece. They can usually be found on the bottom.

In the case of these bowls, both are marked ‘Anchor Hocking’, which dates them to the 1960’s-70’s.

For Easter, I have my jadeite dessert bowls styled on the bottom shelf of my hutch alongside the rest of my collection.

I love the look of jadeite piled together…I just think it makes a dramatic impact, especially when the backdrop is white. For a pop of Spring, I placed a vintage wood bird plaque inside the top bowl.

With jadeite, less is more because the green truly speaks for itself!

Thrifted Find #3: Vintage Floral Hanky

The third find in the haul today is a pretty pink floral hanky!

I’ve been restraining myself from buying more hankies because, well, I don’t need any more. But, sometimes, I just can’t help myself, especially when it comes to ones with embroidered flowers.

This vintage handkerchief was found in one of my favorite booths at a nearby antique mall. For just $2.00, how could I not bring it home?! The pink flowers, which I believe are roses, are just so lovely.

I knew my found hanky would be the perfect accent to use in my hutch for Easter and that’s just what I did! Paired with a few ironstone pieces and some pink ranunculus, it’s a cheery little vignette.

Thrifted Find #4: Blue and White Floral Saucer

Up next is a very unique find…a vintage Bavarian saucer!

This was a one-of, meaning I could only find one saucer in the thrift store. I kept looking to see if more had been placed somewhere else but no luck. The blue flowers really spoke to me and, I mean…pretty, scalloped edges?! Come on. For only $1.00, I couldn’t just leave it there!

The marking on the back shows us that the plate originates from Bavaria, Germany and the pattern is called ‘Meissen Blue’.

I always think it’s funny when I’m drawn to German items without knowing because I’m 100% German…I guess my heritage calls to me:)

Of course I’ve styled this pretty little plate in the curio cabinet along with my growing collection of blue and white dishes! I set a battery pillar candle on it for a cozy glow in the evening.

Side Note: I looked up this pattern online to see if I could find any others and I found a salad plate from the same pattern collection on Replacements, Ltd. that was selling for $11.99 so…good to know that I can always source more if needed!

Thrifted Find #5: Set of Porcelain Napkin Rings

This next find is my favorite find out of the entire haul.

I’m not a person that buys excessively because I like to live minimally and not buy frivolous things. I consider napkin rings to be frivolous because, let’s be honest…who really needs, or cares, about napkin rings?! They get used for .2 seconds at a table then get taken off so that the napkin can actually be used.

However, with that being said, there was something about this set of 6 floral porcelain napkin rings that made my heart so happy! I found the box of them sitting on the ‘knick-knack’ shelf at my local thrift store. The whole set was just $3.00!

After getting home and unwrapping the packaging, I noticed that the napkin rings were in the original box with the lid! That’s so unheard of!

And then, after looking underneath the lid itself, I saw a marking that said ‘made in Japan’. How cool is that?! Hand painted, porcelain napkin rings from Japan found all the way across the ocean…you guys…THIS is why thrifting is so special!

Obviously, due to the pretty floral pattern, these thrifted napkin rings are perfect for using on an Easter table. Paired with pastel napkins and placemats, they make for a lovely Spring table accent!

Thrifted Find #6: Large Doily

Finally, last but not least in the haul today is a lovely vintage linen! Though not Easter-themed, these types of linens are super versatile and can be used for any decor purpose and in any season.

On this thrifting trip, I went specifically looking for a doily or linen that I could use on top of my curio cabinet. Well, as luck would have it, I spotted this amazing hand-crocheted doily, in the perfect oval shape, for just .99 cents! Have I mentioned that I LOVE thrifting?! You just can’t make this stuff up!

I used the doily as a base, placing a vintage brass lamp and a special photo of my late grandparents on top. It’s the most perfect size for the top of my curio cabinet display! (Side Note: I also thrifted the picture frame on the same day for just $2.00!)

  • I am drooling over your two jadeite bowls. It has been a very long time since I’ve found any jadeite, much less for the price you paid! I’m also drawn to napkin rings and although they’re great for setting a pretty table, they’re also useful as display stands for Easter eggs and other spherical items. Thanks for sharing your thrifted finds 🙂

Lucky you for finding jadeite out in the wild; I never see it at thrift stores for that cheap. Can’t wait for Spring church sales to start; they’re my favorite!
