Journey Jots #42

Hello, guys! Welcome to another Jots and a brand new week!

I hope August has been going well so far! What have you been up to? I’d love to know in the comments!

Life Lately

Last weekend, we took Friday off to make our way down to Southern Minnesota for a day of fishing. You guys…it was SO HOT. Like…even though the river was nice and cold, it didn’t matter. Usually I’m one to keep fishing all day but I had to call it around 2:00 in the afternoon because I just couldn’t take the heat anymore! It was nearing 100 with heat index and heat exhaustion was starting to set in.

I also didn’t have my heart fully into catching fish this day due to the heat. So, no trout were caught on my line. Nonetheless, it was still a lovely way to spend a Friday!

After we had cooled off and rested for a while at the bed and breakfast we were staying in for the night, we walked to downtown for dinner and ice cream!

The heat had gotten to both of us and we were feeling pretty crabby so the food, cold beverages, and ice cream treat were much needed.

Then, on Saturday, we went to my favorite antique mall in the area for a vintage market and a day of antiquing!

I even met my favorite vintage dealer! She has a booth inside the antique mall but was selling many of her wares out of her vintage airstream trailer outside. It was SO lovely to meet her…we had an amazing conversation. It’s so fun to connect with others who share the same passion and interests!

I found a few really neat vintage items to bring home. I have fall decorating on my brain lately so many of the pieces I purchased will be used for fall decor in a few weeks!

Have you found anything that you are super jazzed about while out thrifting or antiquing lately?! I would love to hear!

Last week, on Thursday, I shared a brand new DIY project! Using some .99 thrifted vintage tin molds and a few pieces of scrap wood, I created some stylish wall pockets. You can totally make these…check out the full post for the tutorial!

Another DIY that you can easily make, for fall, is this braided rope wreath! With a few dollar store materials, you can create a unique wreath in no time.

And, for another super cute fall DIY, try these wooden rosette pumpkins! With some paint and a few wooden rosettes, which can be easily found at antique shops, you can have an adorable trio of pumpkins for your home.
