We are thrifting for budget-friendly winter decor in thrifted goodies volume 7!

Thrifting for home decor is one of my favorite pastimes. I have been trying to spend very little this month for ‘no spend January’ and I’m actually pretty proud of how it’s going! However, since thrifting is inexpensive anyways, I have found a few pretty pieces of home decor that I’m excited to show you today. Thrifting Tips for Winter Decorating

It hasn’t been the easiest thrifting lately, you guys. The shelves have been pretty empty and, when I have found something that I like, the price seems to be much too high. But, sometimes that’s how it goes!

So, many of the items that I’m sharing today I actually picked up at an antique store a few days after Christmas. Though not technically thrifted, they are still secondhand purchases for affordable prices. They are pretty neat finds to add to my collections!

Thrifted Goodies Volume 7: Thrift Haul and Winter Decor Styling Tips

Let’s get into the pretty old things! The first three items in the list today all came from the same antique store.

Copper Cheese Shaker

So, funny story about this.

I think it was back in the fall, like October maybe, I was at this same antique store and had this exact cheese shaker in my hand. I carried it around with me the whole time but ended up not getting it.

Well, fast forward 2 months to when I went back in December and it was still there! I was like okay…I’m getting it this time!

I’ve never seen anything quite like this and it’s in amazing condition. It was only $10 which I guess the first time I thought was too high but is actually a very fair price.

This shaker is quite heavy and I adore the handle on the side! I’m not using it for cheese because it is pretty dirty inside so I have it displayed with my other copper in the kitchen. I just love it!

Milk Glass ‘Toothpick Holder’

This little thing is so cute! If you are new around here, I collect vintage milk glass, specifically with the hobnail pattern. I’m pretty sure I saw this at that antique store last time as well and, once again, was still there 2 months later, just waiting for me! I paid $6.00 for it.

If you notice in the photo below, you can see small hints of red and pink around the rim of the glass. This is called the ‘ring of fire’, which identifies it as actual vintage milk glass. I always check for it before purchasing milk glass to make sure I’m not getting a knock off piece.

On the tag, it was called a toothpick holder, which it totally could be, but I am going to use it for decor. I have a few more milk glass pieces that are small like this and they are the perfect decor piece to use in vignettes around the house.

Sometimes there are little gaps or open spots that need something little to fill it in and that’s when these little cups come in beautifully!

Fire King Milk Glass Bowls

These bowls are amazing. A year or so ago I found two of the exact same bowls at the thrift store. We use them all the time for cereal, soup, fruit, etc… and have been wanting two more so that we would have a set of 4. Well, as luck would have it, the antique store had the 2 more I was looking for, listed for $4 each.

That is a dollar or two more than I bought them for at the thrift store but still a fair price, especially for an antique store.

The cute handles on the sides of them are perfect for use in the kitchen. They are marked ‘Fire King’ on the bottom, which is something that I checked for before purchasing them.

Needlework Picture

This beauty came from my favorite thrift store. A few days before I found this, I was telling my husband that I was on the hunt this year for more seasonal vintage art.

Well, two days later as I was doing a quick spin through the thrift store, I saw the corner of this needlework picture sticking out from behind the shelf. It is in pristine condition and was $6! You guys…this is one of the prettiest cross stitch pieces that I’ve ever come across.

First of all, the light blue matting around it is brilliant. It’s the most perfect blue to use for winter decor. Second, the subject manner of the needlework itself is just amazing. A cupboard with quilts? And a peg rack? And a butter churn? The best part about it is the snowy scene outside the window.

I’m so happy with this find! I have it hanging on the wall next to the fireplace and looks stunning with all my other winter decor.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to outfit your home with beautiful things! It is incredible what can be found at secondhand shops for just a few dollars.

2 Linen Barn Pictures

The last find I have to share today is actually two things in one. I received these vintage Kay Dee linen barn pictures from my husband for Christmas! I found a larger picture from this same artist at an antique store last winter and fell in love with it. The paint on linen is just stunning and creates such a unique texture.

These two prints were sold as a pair for $14.

Aren’t they just incredible?! The colors are so vivid, especially for a winter scene!

I was so excited to hang these up right after Christmas so that they could be displayed as long as possible. These pretty pictures make the cold winter days brighter. I love them so much and am on the hunt for more to add to my collection!

Closing Tidbits on Thrifted Winter Decor

I hope you enjoyed thrifted goodies volume 7! Thrifting for home decor is special because you get to hand pick items, many of them ‘one-of’ pieces, to decorate your home. In doing so, you are not only keeping things out of landfills, but you are also able to create a space that is unique only to you.

Instead of buying things that everyone else has, why not take a little more time and source items that actually speak to you. Be encouraged to fill your home with joy!
