I want to teach you about incorporating worn wood decor in your home!
Using wood accents in my home is my absolute favorite way to add warmth and texture. Wood elements contain a very grounded feeling which creates a balanced and secure atmosphere. Incorporating worn wood decor in your home blends rustic and modern together in a seamless way.
Incorporating Worn Wood Decor In Your Home
There are many different ways you can incorporate wood elements in your home. The ideas below are some of the ones that I have used in my home or have been used by other seasoned decorators. These uses for worn wood create a home that feels cozy and welcoming.
Types of Wooden Decor and How to Style Them
1. Baskets
Vintage baskets are so pretty. Full of texture, baskets are stunning to use as home decor pieces.
Try hanging a basket on a wall. Leave it plain or attach a faux wreath to the middle for some color. Some of the most gorgeous gallery walls are made up of all vintage baskets in various shapes, sizes, and colors.
Baskets are also helpful ways of adding height or depth to a shelf display or vignette.
Vintage baskets make for beautiful storage solutions. Use one in your living room to hold extra blankets or in a bathroom as towel storage.
Incorporating vintage, worn baskets in your home is a simple way of adding warm wood tones. Baskets pair perfectly with more modern decor and clean lines, creating a space that feels balanced.

2. Antique Corbels
Old, worn corbels are one of the prettiest decor pieces that you can use in your home. Corbels are such a unique way of bringing in the wood element. They add a beautiful layer of depth and usually have intricate detailing, like spindles or engraving, making your home one-of-a-kind.
Corbels can be used in various ways such as in the corners of a doorway, as shelf decor, bookends, or as shelf brackets.
3. Wooden Crates
Old wooden crates have a simplistic beauty about them. Many times, old crates have worn words, dates, or pictures on them, especially crates that were used for carrying fruit or liquor. Those details add to the charm, making the piece feel truly special.
They are versatile pieces to have in your home for use in various spaces. Wooden crates are handy storage solutions for shoes, dog toys, or cleaning supplies. You can also turn over a crate and have a cute little table to hold a plant!
The wood tones paired with the old nails and lettering make these wooden crates lasting treasures. They are the perfect wood element for any space.

4. Beams
Antique, hand-hewn beams fresh out of an old barn are one of the prettiest pieces of decor that you can find. Worn and weathered, old wooden beams do a fabulous job of blending rustic and modern together to create a cohesive space.
A fellow blogger Andrea of Pine and Prospect Home recently installed worn barn beams in her home. Click the link above so you can see how incredible they look. The amount of character that the beams add to her space is just stunning.

5. Shelving
Adding wooden shelving to empty walls in your home is such an easy way to incorporate the wood element. Plus, having pretty open shelving is another place you can use to display vintage and collected decor!
You can also choose to make your own shelves because you can customize them to your liking. It is super simple to create your own shelving. All you really need is wood, stain, screws, and some type of brackets for mounting.
If you notice in the picture below, the wood shelving adds so much warmth to that wall and ties everything together in a beautiful way.
