Journey Jots #28
Hello, guys! Hope you are well.
The leaves are finally starting to pop out on the trees and the flowering crabapples are in full bloom…they smell heavenly! It’s fair to say that Spring has finally sprung here in the Northland!
Life Lately
It was a shorter, less busy week as hubby and I were on a much needed long weekend out in the country. We rented the most amazing AirBNB on a farm with stunning views of the driftless valley and surrounding woods.
Each morning, we awoke to the sound of the river flowing, birds chirping, roosters, and the most peaceful views. It’s truly heaven on Earth in that part of Minnesota.
We were in the heart of Amish country, as well. We passed many Amish buggies while driving on the hilly roads. That culture is SO intriguing to me, you know?!
It rained a lot but that was totally okay with us! We need the rain so badly and it was a super nice, gentle soaking rain, perfect for trout fishing.
And BOY howdy did that river deliver! We had the most epic three days of fishing that we’ve EVER had.
Truly, Minnesota has the same, if not better, trout fishing rivers than many of the more popular areas such as Montana or Wyoming. Our state is a hidden gem and I am so grateful to live here!
Any vacation wouldn’t be complete without some antique shopping and there was plenty to behold! I spent over an hour wandering around my very favorite antique mall.
For me, antiquing is like getting a massage. It’s one of a few activities that brings me immense peace. Each time, I leave feel completely at ease and relaxed.
I knew I needed a vacation but didn’t know bad. Both of us have been working non-stop for many, many months.
It was truly a healing getaway for mind, body, and spirit. Our hearts love that area of the state and, someday soon, hope to find a property down there that we can call home.

Thank you so much for being here and joining me for journey jots #28! I love sharing a little bit of my daily life with you.
Sustainable Living Tip of the Week: Try making the switch from liquid soap in a plastic container to bar soap that comes wrapped in paper. Bar soap lasts a lot longer and is much more eco-friendly!
