Journey Jots #50
Hello, guys! Welcome to the beautiful month of October! This is one of my most favorite months out of the entire year…everything about it is just so good.
What’s something good that’s happened in your life lately? I’d love to know in the comments!
Life Lately
Last weekend, hubby and I took a three day weekend down to our favorite spot out in the country and brought his parents with us this time! We rented the cutest old farmhouse on a dirt road.
The property was just stunning. It even came complete with a giant red barn…I was in total heaven to say the least 🙂
You guys…it was the most peaceful, relaxing weekend. We fished our hearts out and I had the most epic two days of fishing, landing 5 trout!
The river was just perfect…the water was the most beautiful shade of teal blue, it wasn’t hot, and the fall colors were just starting to pop out on the trees. Sheer bliss!
I took his mom to my favorite antique shops in town, we went out for lunch, got yummy coffee, and just had good conversation all around.
We are learning that, as our parents age, it’s so important to spend more time with them, especially since his dad will be 80 in December! Thankfully all four of our parents are still pretty healthy. But, if you have aging parents like we do, you will probably understand the realization that comes at this time in life.

Your weekend sounds amazing. Such a great property. You are so right about embracing time with our parents. We only have my FIL left and we cherish all the moments with him. XO- MJ
It was…SO good. Have a lovely week, friend!
What a fun way to spend some time together, Rachel. That farmhouse and barn are both so pretty and I can’t get over how blue the water is either. Just gorgeous! My parents are in their 70s so I’m totally on board with spending extra time with loved ones who are aging. They need us now more than ever and I’m excited you were able to love on your people with a bliss filled weekend. Can’t wait to check out your links! Big hugs, CoCo
Thank you, friend!
